Welcome to West Surrey National Trust website.

Can you put a price on the unspoilt beauty of the Cornish coast, the mountains of Snowdonia and the Lake District or the rolling Surrey Hills? Do you care if the great country house is allowed to crumble, its contents sold abroad? If you care enough to save and cherish the beauty of Britain, you join the National Trust, but your involvement in the Trust need not stop there.

You can increase the pleasure you derive from your membership – and your value to the Trust – by joining your local National Trust Centre. There are Centres & Associations throughout the country, run by volunteers dedicated to organising activities for the enjoyment of members and to raise funds for local and other National Trust causes.

The West Surrey Centre

The West Surrey Centre is one of the most active and successful Centres in the Trust. It covers a large area of Surrey encompassing towns like Cobham, Cranleigh, Dorking, Esher, Farnham, Godalming, Guildford, Leatherhead, Walton, Weybridge, Woking and their surrounding areas.

Aims

(a) To raise money for National Trust projects

(b) To promote the National Trust

(c) To enable National Trust members to get more out of their membership by joining a Centre

There is a central Membership Committee with a number of supporting committees all run by volunteers who arrange a variety of visits to properties, gardens and other places or events of interest, lectures and holidays, as well as other social activities, for all members of the Centre to enjoy. The Management Committee, which co-ordinates activities, provides financial control and allocates funds raised.

A Programme of Events and Newsletter are distributed three times a year at the end of March, July and November.

Many Centre members are or become actively involved as volunteers at the various National Trust properties and its other locations in the area acting as stewards, assisting at special events and in other ways.

Membership of the Centre is £8.00 annually per household. Subscriptions are due on 1st January each year but for those who join after 1st September their subscription will not need to be renewed until the end of the following year. Applications should include the name and National Trust number of each proposed member, your address including post code and your telephone number.

Cheques should be made payable to ‘West Surrey National Trust Centre’.

You do not need to be a member of the National Trust to join the West Surrey Centre but you are encouraged to join the National Trust as many of our outings are to National Trust properties.
